Detailed description of Photo Extractor v1.0

  1. Missing:

    Restoring of digital photos having been lost after formatting or I/O error of flash card. At this moment JPEG is only supported. The photos must contain EXIF section.

  4. Menu description:

    4.1 File

    4.1.1 Open drive ...
    - Choose this option to use the flash card or another physical drive. The list of all your physical drives is called. (Note: if You want to recovery a flash card You have to plug it into the card-reader then take this option :). If your cards file system has broken that most likely its type will be shown as RAW. Choose the drive then press OK.

    4.1.2 Open image from file ...
    - Choose this option if You want to use cards image that been saved.
    If You have chosen one of previous options, the other options are unlocked:
    4.1.3 Close
    - After choosing this option You may open to use a new source drive or image file.

    4.1.4 Save image ...
    - You can take it to save image of opened flash card (or another physical drive) into your HDD as a file. Enter the name of file then press OK. Its extension is .img as default. Then You can open it to use instead using of source card.

    4.1.5 Scan
    - Choose it to begin scanning to search photos. The found photos are added into the list under the name that they will be saved (as default it is date from EXIF but You can hange its name by click trice of the left mouse button). There is also showed the forecast of recovery ('poor' means good forecast, 'trunc' means that perhaps a part of photo is lost and 'poor' - I'm sorry ...) and the checkbox 'saved/unsaved'. By the help of this checkbox You can select the records in order to save them into your HDD. Sometimes, perhaps the message 'I/O error' may appear. Most likely, it means that your card or card-reader has got a physical damage.

    4.1.6 Save selected photos
    - If You take it, selected photos (see the next option called 'Edit') will be saved into the subdirectory \Photos relative of application directory. If it is necessary this subdirectory will be created.

    4.1.7 Stop
    - If saving to image or scanning last too much time You can take this option to break the process.

    4.2 Edit

    4.2.1 Select all
    - All the found photos will be selected for saving.

    4.2.2 Select good and truncated
    - All the found photos except 'poor' will be selected.

    4.2.3 Select all unsaved
    - All the unsaved photos will be selected.
